Institute of Precambrian geology and geochronology RAS
Laboratory of geology and geodynamics
The laboratory of geology and geodynamics (formerly known
as the laboratory of stratigraphy and tectonics) has existed in IPGG since
1967. A.N.Neelov, F.P.Mitrofanov, B.A.Rudnikare all former heads. Since
1993 it has been headed by professor A.B.Vrevsky.
Basic research programs, carried out by the laboratory:
1. Petrologic and isotope-geochemical evolution of “crust-mantle” geodynamic systems in the Precambrian era.
1.1. Petrology and geodynamic models of continental crust forming in the Early Precambrian.
1.2. Geochemical and isotope composition, petrology and chemical geodynamics of mantle reservoirs, including low-mantle components.
2. pH-Eh conditions of litho genesis in the Early Precambrian.
3. Geochemistry of zircons in metamorphic rocks: REE spectrum classification and differences from hydrothermal zircons.
These studies are associated with five Programs of Fundamental studies of Earth science division of Russian academy of science (RAS) and Programs of Presidium of RAS: № 2 “Evolution of lithosphere, metallogenic provinces, epochs and ore deposits: from models to the mineral resources forecasting”, № 6 “Geodynamical and physical processes at the lithosphere”, № 23 ”Scientific principles for innovative ecologically-friendly technologies of evaluation and exploring of natural and humanmade resources”, № 24 “Origin and evolution of geo-biologic systems”.
