RAS Central Library logoThe library was founded in late 1962, as a branch of the Central Library of the Academy of Sciences.

The main part of the catalogue is comprised of scientific literature on Precambrian geology, general geology, mineralogy, paleontology and related sciences: physics, chemistry, mathematics, and astronomy. Part of the collection is maps and atlases. The majority of editions are in Russian.

The IPGG Library is the curator of the memorial collection of the Academician A.A. Polkanov.

On 1st April 2010 the Library owned nearly 90,000 titles.

The library is open daily, on weekdays from 10-00 to 17-00 without a lunch break.

NB! The library is closed each last friday of a month (it is a service day).
