In 1975 he graduated from the geological department of Leningrad State University, specializing in geology surveyor-searcher. Since August 1975 to the present time I work with IPGG RAS. Worked in the position of senior laboratory assistant, scientific researcher, senior scientific researcher. From 1997 to the present time he is the Head of Laboratory of Lithology and Precambrian Biostratigraphy of IPGG RAS.
Main interests and directions of work: lithology and geochemistry of sedimentary and metamorphosed Precambrian sedimentary formations, reconstruction of the primary composition, paleogeographic and paleogeodynamic environments of ancient sediments, redox sedimentation regimes, etc.
Regions of work: the Siberian and East European platforms, their folded framing. A number of works in collaboration with TN German is devoted to the paleontological remnants of the Upper Precambrian.
In 1984 he defended the thesis of the candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences on the theme "Mamskaya and Bodaibinsky series of the Precambrian of the Baikal-Patom Upland (petrography, petrochemistry, formations)", specialty 25.00.01 - general geology.
In 2001 he defended his doctoral thesis on the subject "Sedimentary sequences of rifean and vendian of stratotypical regions of Siberia and Urals (lithochemistry, chemostratigraphy, geodynamic regimes of formation)", specialty 25.00.01. - St. Petersburg, 2001. 394 p.
